Before you hand anyone your freight, look them up. Authority, what they are required to carry against what they have actually filed, and whether their address answers mail.
Why this existsA broker who books a load with an uninsured carrier does not lose an argument — they lose the freight, and the carrier loses the company. Pick the kind of number you have — a USDOT and an MC number can be the same digits on two different companies — and this reads the federal record for exactly that one.
